Dr. Michael Imelfort
Lead bioinformatics engineer
Mike is an accomplished software engineer and bioinformatics expert with experience in both academia and industry.
He has developed several bioinformatics software tools that are widely used for metagenomics analysis (GroopM, CheckM) as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australian Center for Ecogenomics (University of Queensland). His industry experience includes working as a consultant in finance, government and commercial roles and as a senior engineer in the start-up sector.
Mike holds a PhD from the University of Queensland that focused on genome assembly algorithms.
